I started working as a web developer back in the mid-90s when the Internet was young and database-driven sites were the hot thing. I built many web applications, including a multi-site content management system, using FileMaker Pro as the backend database. Since then, BOLD has moved up to bigger and better tools: first to Microsoft technologies like ASP, .NET and SQL Server, and, most recently, Open Source tools like PHP, MySQL and Drupal. Nowadays I find myself writing less code and working more on software design, user interface and system admin.

In a previous life, I was a computer trainer and technical writer, so I feel that education is an important service that we provide to our clients, by helping them understand new technologies and use them to their advantage.

In my spare time -- what little there is -- I hang around with my wife of 28 years and my three dogs, and I try to hit the gym once in a while. I've also been known to wail on the electric guitar when not writing iPhone app reviews for Macworld.com.

My favorite saying... "If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur."
